There are many supposed benefits to doing your activities and business on the blockchain. First and foremost, it is decentralized, meaning that data doesn’t have to go through a centralized authority. Everybody on the network will have a copy of the same data and this data once written cannot be changed or corrupted in any way.

However, many applications in the real world are currently centralized. Social media is an example, just think of some of the popular ones that we all use frequently. Traditional social media are subject to limitations including misinformation, censorship, privacy, political neutrality, user control, and malicious activities etc, due to its centralized nature. This also increases the risks of being hacked and other infringements of data privacy.

Enter MyMessage, who are building a messaging dApp, which is already running since Feb 2021 on the Zilliqa Testnet. The dApp consists of a thread-reply bulletin board and data portal for future Web3 applications with a quantum-resistant level of security. The reddit-like bulletin board will be a bridge where users can communicate, encrypt threads and data in a decentralized manner. By doing so, users will be able to get access to data resources which are immutable, verifiable and secure. More importantly, users will be able to enjoy the rights to their data and get rewards simply by socializing on the dApp.

So you might be wondering what are some of the use cases for MyMessage. Unlike Cloud storage that requires you to pay a yearly subscription, MyMessage only costs approximately US$0.10 per message. The cost of the message to be stored is highly dependent on the size but still very affordable compared to a subscription-based model. With the use of blockchain technology, you can view or retrieve the information any time without any cost involved. Any information or data that is digital in nature can be uploaded, stored, searched and retrieved. Some examples are given below:

  • NFT artworks and ASCII text art
  • Encrypted messages for sensitive information
  • Past messages between parties
  • A verified message from a verified source
  • A will or testament (the enforceability may be subject to your country’s law)
  • Music copyrights

Given the increasing number of chains available to us today, it is no wonder that MyMessage will be multi-chain. It is currently supported by the Zilliqa, Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain, and Polygon networks. MyMessage is being built on Polygon which capitalizes on its low cost and high speed, and it has also been awarded a development grant from the network.

MyMessage will be launching its $MESA tokens in December 2021 and holders can post encrypted threads, replies, and comments on the decentralized social media platform by utilizing myMessage middleware. Users can tip each other in $MESA tokens for their content and enjoy farming rewards simply by socializing. It returns both the proprietary rights and value generated back to users and establishes myMessage at the forefront of SocialFi adoption.

If you value your data privacy and want to make use of MyMessage to secure your data and earn rewards at the same time, you will definitely want to check out MyMessage which will also have its mainnet launch on Zilliqa in Q4 2021. In Q2 2022, the mobile app is expected to be available on both the AppStore and Google Play.
